Event Details

Description of the Group:

In this peer-discussion affinity group, volunteer managers gather together to discuss topics that are important in strategizing and developing their programs.

The affinity group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 10:00-11:30am.  The first hour of each meeting is devoted to that month's topic and the remaining half-hour is left open for general discussion, networking, and program development.

Each meeting is facilitated by a peer-facilitator.  If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and facilitating at an upcoming meeting, please contact Sarah Van Dine directly at svandine@cvnl.org

July's Topic of Discussion: Mastering the 3 Rs

This discussion will focus on mastering the "3 Rs" in your program-recruitment, recognition, and retention.  Some questions that we will address will include:

  • How can I learn more and gain better tools to assist me in volunteer recruitment, recognition, and retention?
  • Why is a volunteer orientation essential to volunteer retention, and how can I improve my volunteer intake and orientation process?
  • What are some cost-effective ways to recognize my volunteers?

Upcoming Topics:

September-Finding Sustainability through Volunteer & Staff Turnover

October-Volunteer "Termination" & Legality

November-Volunteer Leadership Development & Engagement
